It will also give proof of competency in the computer skills of potential employees to the employer. The SLCDL could be a pre-qualification which employers can look for, in hiring personnel for computer & IT related jobs.

Sri Lanka Computer Driving License is offered by the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA). SLCDL certification contains two parts which will be used to evaluate the knowledge and skill of a computer user. Registered applicants can obtain separate certificates for Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 evaluates the knowledge using an online e-testing environment and Part 2 consists of practical assignments based on the curriculum of SLCDL. University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) collaborates with NAITA to develop the curriculum and carry out e-Testing

The Abacus

What is an abacus?

How did people keep track of numbers long before pen and paper were widely available?
How does addition and subtraction work if they don't have a handy written form for numbers?
Say they can't read or write, but can count, how do they add, subtract, multiply, or divide large numbers?
The answer to all these questions is the abacus!

An abacus is a device used for addition and subtraction, and the related operations of multiplication and division. It does not require the use of pen and paper, and it's good for any base number system.

The oldest surviving abacus is the Salamis tablet used by the Babylonians around 300 B.C., discovered in 1846 on the island of Salamis.
